Nestling in the delightful
village of Coleby, near Lincoln is the charming restaurant entitled
The Bell Inn. It offers a modern dining experience whilst retaining
the charm and character of the pub’s history, which can be traced
back to 1759. The roaring log fire and low beamed ceilings in
the olde worlde bar and lounge are the first indication of the
warmth of welcome you receive at The Bell.
Coleby lies along a
limestone ridge of the Lincoln Cliff with its sweeping views
across the Trent Valley. Many of the cottages and large country
houses are built of this softly coloured stone. The Bell Inn
is situated behind the Medieval All Saints Church, the five
bells in the church tower were cast in specially prepared holes
dug in a field nearby, which nowadays is part of the car park.
This along with the first recorded landlord being Thomas Bell,
is how The Bell Inn was first named.
